Management Team:
Scott M. Strayer, MD, MPH, Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Scott Strayer is an assistant professor in family medicine
and health evaluation sciences at the University of Virginia Health
Systems. As founder of the company, he plays a key role in charting
the path for further development and commercialization of software
products. As an early adopter of handheld technology, Dr. Strayer
recognized the potential for using handheld computers to help educate
physicians and developed software applications to run on handhelds.
Dr. Strayer is an internationally recognized expert in handheld
computer use in clinical care. He has authored numerous journal
articles on handheld computers and recently published a definitive
text on using handhelds in clinical care entitled Handhelds in
Medicine: A Practical Guide for Clinicians, and has presented
at numerous medical conferences. Dr. Strayer was named a finalist
for the Microsoft Physician of the Year in 2001 for his work.
Dr. Strayer (along with other colleagues at the University of
Virginia Health Systems and St. Louis University Hospital) is responsible
for designing and testing every application with the Company’s
True Practice™ development process. The products
are tested at length in clinical practice before being marketed
to ensure their adaptability and performance meets the demands of
physicians around the world.
Dr. Strayer received his MD and pursued a residency in Family
Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. In addition, he received
his MPH while practicing medicine at St. Louis University. Dr. Strayer
is board certified from the American Board of Family Medicine.

Karen Kelly, Director of Marketing
Ms. Kelly has spent over 20 years applying marketing, communications, PR and change management expertise across a variety of industries: High Technology, Telecommunications, Healthcare, Governments and Education. For the past ten years, she has focused exclusively on the Healthcare Industry, with particular emphasis on mobile clinical solutions. As Director of Sales and Marketing, Ms. Kelly is responsible for designing and executing marketing programs and initiatives, achieving sales targets, and increasing overall market share. Prior to joining PocketMed®, Ms. Kelly was Vice President of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations for Teges Corporation, a clinical systems company. She also spent several years at Palm, Inc., developing its Healthcare business: under her leadership, Palm significantly grew its Healthcare market penetration. Ms. Kelly has also held a variety of marketing positions at Lucent, Unisys and IBM. Ms. Kelly received a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Villanova University.

David Haupert, Chief Development Officer
David Haupert is President and CEO of DDH Software, Inc., makers of HanDBase, the leading handheld/mobile relational database application on the market since 1998. Mr. Haupert founded DDH Software, Inc in 1997 and quickly became a leader in the burgeoning handheld software field. Since then, products he has developed, like HanDBase, have been purchased by nearly 200,000 customers, a large percentage of whom are working in the medical field in some capacity. Under his initial development and direction, the products that DDH Software has written and marketed have won several accolades, including the prestigious Pocket PC/Windows Mobile Magazine award for best database application, three years in a row, Handheld Computing's best database application award, and numerous other industry achievements and awards from companies like ZDNet, Handango, and more. Mr. Haupert received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Honors from Florida Atlantic University.

Board of Advisors:
Robin Felder, PhD, Professor of Pathology, Director Medical Automation Research Center, University of Virginia
As a University Professor and Director of the Medical Automation Research Center, Robin has been awarded over $30
million during the past 15 years to fund a research and development group that has produced over 180 publications,
been granted numerous patents, and is recognized as a leading center in the areas of medical devices, laboratory
automation, and biotechnology. In addition, he has successfully bridged the gap between the academic research
laboratory and the entrepreneurial community by receiving Small Business Technology Transfer grants to
commercialize high-tech innovations. Since the late 1990s, Robin has fostered the technology transfer of several
ventures from the University of Virginia including Medical Automation Systems (medical informatics), Biophile
(robotic genomic storage facilities), Hypogen (hypertension diagnostic and pharmaceutical company), Home Guardian
(passive telemedicine services), and Global Cell Solutions (pharmaceutical production and regenerative medicine).
His affiliation with professional organizations includes the Association for Laboratory Automation (founder and
President), Council for High Blood Pressure Research, and the American Association for Clinical Biochemists. Dr.
Felder has published over 260 research papers, been awarded 8 patents, and has presented over 140 lectures in 15
foreign countries. In addition, he has co-authored 4 business plans that have all placed as finalists in the
UVA/Darden Business Plan Competition.

Jeff Musa
Mr. Jeff Musa has over 15 years experience in the software industry and was president and CEO of Cutting Edge Software,
Inc., a software company that he founded. At Cutting Edge Software, Mr. Musa successfully developed and marketed
Quickoffice, the first Palm handheld software application that provides word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and
chart capability. Under his leadership, the company attracted a customer base of over 350,000 licensed users. He
further invented the company’s Conference and Collaboration Protocol which has patents pending.
While leading Cutting Edge Software, the company’s software products won numerous awards, including Best Office Suite
and Best Spreadsheet in 2001 from Handheld Computing Magazine, Best Enterprise Application from Handango, Application
of the Year from Visor Central, and Award of Excellence from The Piloteer, and a Best of COMDEX finalist in 2001. This
success stoked the company’s consistent profitability since inception in 1995. His clear vision and strategy with
controlled growth led to the acquisition of the company in 2002 by Mobility Electronics, Inc., a leading provider of
innovative portable computing solutions for the mobile computer user. Subsequently in 2004, Cutting Edge Software was
acquired from Mobility Electronics by Mobile Digital Media and renamed Quickoffice, Inc.
Mr. Musa serves in various capacities including as a consultant with a private equity group and as an advisor to other
technology firms . He received a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Virginia Tech with a minor in Computer Science,
Business, and Communications.

Philippe Sommer
Prior to joining the Batten institute at the Darden School of Business, Philippe was President and Founder of Alsacia & Sommer, Inc., which consults on strategy and funding for early stage med-tech companies. He was a founding partner of WestMed Venture Funds, publicly registered investment companies affiliated with CIBC/Oppenheimer, Inc. and was director of business development at Pfizer Inc., in the Medical Products Group. Philippe has extensive experience in fund management, private investments, M&A, licensing, and technology transfer. He graduated with honors from Amherst College and holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

John Oleson
John Oleson has twenty-six years of diversified experience in sales, marketing, and healthcare administration (hospitals, clinics, physician contracting services, and decision support software). He is a CO-FOUNDER of Dale Carnegie of Korea, AIM & Associates (Human Resources, Outplacement, Leadership Training - merged with Goodman and Company), and Keymind (Internet Marketing Strategy and Web Design - merged with Axiom).
One of his most successful endeavors was as Senior Vice President of HealthDemographics. There he coor-dinated all sales and business development activities for a start-up, medical data geographical information software system. The national sales force he created drove annual revenues from $250,000 to $4M in less than two years. As a result of focused branding efforts, HD attracted additional funding and later an acquisition by CareData
Prior to that, he was Vice President - Business Development, PHYSIX, Inc. in Houston, TX. He formulated, directed, and implemented all sales, marketing and business development activities for a new point-of-care computer practice management systems company. As one of the first employees, he was responsible for staffing, sales training, account management, software demonstrations, product launch, beta site development, advertising materials, marketing positioning, database implementation, telemarketing, lead development, media relations, and market analysis. During that time he created initial marketing and sales plan to position the company for launching new products (PocketDoc and Compendium). He was instrumental in developing a targeted PR campaign to attract $17M in venture capital, leading to the acquisition by Data Critical and then GE Medical.
Currently, he is a principal and Executive Vice President of TSystems Group, a fast growing IT, Telecom, and Health Systems company located in Lorton, VA. Business has increased from $300,000 in 2003 to anticipated revenues of over $7,000,000 this year.

David Jones
David Jones is a Principal with Southern Capitol Ventures. Previously, he was a senior information
technology consultant for Deloitte Consulting where he managed strategic technology projects for the
Department of Homeland Security. David is also the co-Founder and Chief Information Officer of a
medical device portal, Orthocopia.com, which provides surgical information to operating room professionals.
David's background in technology stems from the military where he served as a Naval Aviator flying over
1900 hours in the P-3C Orion. During his last tour he served as an Assistant Professor at the University
of Virginia teaching Engineering and Leadership courses. David served as the Weapons and Operations
Officer during two deployments to the Mediterranean theater and North Atlantic and led a Naval Intelligence
special projects crew testing cutting-edge technologies for acoustic and non-acoustic sensors and combat
mission hardware and software.
David received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the US Naval Academy, his M.S. in Management
Information Systems (MIS) from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from UNC — Chapel Hill.

David Peyton
David Peyton became the first federal representative for Click Bond, Inc. of Carson City, Nevada, a first-tier aerospace supplier of fasteners, and Vermeer Manufacturing Company of Pella, Iowa, a maker of several lines of heavy industrial equipment, in September 2006.
He had served at three trade associations, most recently as director, technology issues at the National Association of Manufacturers for the previous decade. His most recent legislative accomplishment was his contribution to the strengthening of the federal criminal statute against trafficking in counterfeit products, effective in March 2006.
Over 22 years he has served on five federal advisory committees, currently the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Aerospace.
While at the Information Industry Association, he shared with his boss a 1986 award from the American Society of Association Executives for the most effective government relations program in a small trade association.
He was graduated with honors and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia in government in 1974. He completed his education at the University of California, Berkeley with a master’s degree in public policy.
As a U.Va. alumni adviser, his companies have included Directed Vapor Technologies, in nanotech and thermal coatings; Virginia Diodes in high-frequency crystals; MicroLab in microfluidics; and now PocketMed.
A native of the island of Bermuda, he lives in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife and two daughters. As a serious amateur choral singer, he has performed at the Kennedy Center over 100 times. Also a serious writer, he has self-published two books, a volume of poetry, Names and Qualities of God, and a memoir of his university years, East to West and Back. He has served on two boards of directors, of his local pool and tennis club and of his condominium association while a resident of the District of Columbia.

Khurrum Malik
Khurrum Malik is the Group Product Manager for the Exchange Product Strategy & Management Team within the Unified Communications (UC) Marketing Group at Microsoft Corporation. He leads product pricing and business model strategies across a mix of software licensing and ad-based models, in order to optimize product share and revenues.
Throughout his career, Khurrum has been responsible for a full range of product management initiatives and corporate strategies in data-driven environments. Prior to joining Microsoft, he directed program management initiatives on the Nextel and Sprint merger integration team, which led to a position as Corporate Strategist with Sprint Nextel. He has also led communications and high technology consulting initiatives with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) and with Booz, Allen, & Hamilton.
Khurrum is a Triple 'Hoo, graduating with a B.A. in Environmental Science (National Merit Scholar), an M.S. in Management of Information Technology (Virginia IT Scholar), and an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business (C.W. Darden Scholar).

True Practice Development Team™, Consulting Group of Practicing Physicians:
The True Practice Development Team™ is made up of a group of practicing physicians at St. Louis University Hospital
and at the University of Virginia Health System. The group is composed of physicians practicing in multiple clinical
areas of medicine. The True Practice Development Team™ is responsible for the development and clinical testing of
software applications before market introduction.
